Jeff Koons: A Retrospective

Hi again! Yesterday I saw Jeff Koons: A Retrospective, at the Whitney Museum located at Madison Avenue between 74th and 75th streets. I first heard about Jeff Koons as a "The Big Egg Hunt" artist, who's egg was sold for the most money.
Then I heard about his partnership with H & M.
He also has his "Sprit Rocker" at Rockerfeller Center.
That's why I went. Make sure to pick up the free audio tour. It will help you understand stuff about the art. Koons is very interesting. He turns household things to art, like this vaccuum art which Koons reminds him of his childhood and this Hulk organ. The Hulk organ if turned on, is louder than a helicopter! He wanted it to show the same powerful force of the Hulk.

This lifeboat could be very useful since it's made out of brass!
He also turns stuff to art. This artwork below was taken from a card company and Koons is being sued by them for copyright infringement.
He also made art out of play-doh and balloons. Koons missed his son when he left for Rome and was inspired for these "Celebrations" works.
This is his famous "Balloon Dog"
He reminds me a lot if the artist Banksy. They both took over our city with artwork, and popularity.
See you soon! Andrew

  2. Thanks for posting about this, Andrew! I am fan of Jeff Koon too. I remember when the dog sculpture was featured on the rooftop of The Met a few years ago. This exhibit is on my list of things to do this summer. Perhaps I'll check it out next week. xo
